Fire Burning on Ferris Wheel at Dinosaur Planet in Thailand

A ferris wheel at a newly-opened dinosaur theme park in Bangkok has caught fire.

Officials from the park say no customers were riding in the burning carriage at the time.

The fire started shortly after an afternoon thunderstorm in the capital of Thailand.

No injuries were reported.

The park said in a statement on its Facebook page that no one was on the ferris wheel at the time, with operations stopping before the rain, in line with usual safety measures.

The statement did not include details on how long it took to extinguish the fire.

It said the park was investigating the cause of the blaze.

Images from the scene show fire rising from one of the capsules toward the top of the ferris wheel, as black smoke billowed up.
